MiningWatch Canada is pleased to announce that Diana Martin has joined our staff as Administration and Resource Development Coordinator. Diana brings a strong commitment to social justice and comes to us with many years of experience working with activists, networks, and decision-makers in Canada and internationally.
Diana replaces Susan Murdock in this position, as Susan is retiring after nine and a half years of outstanding work.
Diana’s concern for social justice started from a very early age as she was faced with the struggles of a deeply divided society in her native Colombia. After completing a BA in Political Science at the University of Ottawa and an MA in International Relations at Sophia University in Tokyo, she began working in the non-profit sector supporting social justice causes and solidarity initiatives with a particular focus on peacebuilding and sustainable development.
Diana is very excited to be part of a very committed team at MiningWatch Canada, as the organization’s response to irresponsible policies and practices in Canada and around the world has been instrumental in effecting social and political change. She hopes to build upon her experience working with donors and networks and engaging in advocacy activities to support the work of MiningWatch Canada.
We are especially pleased to have someone with such a rich background and a strong skill set join us at a time when our work is increasingly in demand, and we look forward to the new directions and new ideas that Diana will bring.
